About this site
Sodwana Bay sits on the KwaZulu-Natal coast of South Africa, within the iSimangaliso Wetland Park, close to the southern reach of Africa's coral reef systems. The bay is a well known launch point for boat dives out to a series of named reefs offshore, including Two-Mile, Five-Mile, Seven-Mile and Nine-Mile Reef, reached through the surf by ski boat from the beach. Divers commonly come here for tropical reef fish, turtles and, further offshore, ragged-tooth sharks and occasional migrating whale sharks and manta rays. Conditions and depth vary considerably between the different reef sites, so the difficulty of any given dive depends on which reef and season you are talking about.
