Rocky Island

Rocky Island is a dive site in the Red Sea, characterised by vertical walls dropping into open blue water. The walls are draped in gorgonians, soft corals, and black coral, forming a dense and varied hard structure along the reef face.

The site is exposed to wind and weather, and currents run strong, placing it firmly in the advanced category. Visibility is great, with the open blue of the deep Red Sea making up much of the diving environment beyond the wall itself.

The blue water off the wall is regularly patrolled by tuna, barracuda, trevally, jacks, snappers, grey sharks, white-tip sharks, manta rays, and groupers, while reef fish work the coral-covered wall itself.
