About this site
São Macario is a reef site off São Vicente, one of the northern islands of the Cape Verde archipelago in the Atlantic off West Africa, typically reached by boat from Mindelo, the main town on the island's northern shore. The site tops out at around 15 metres, a shallow depth that might otherwise suggest an easy dive, but it is rated advanced, generally down to currents or surge common around the exposed reefs of this coastline.
