About this site
San Francisco lies along the Caribbean coast of Quintana Roo, Mexico, in the stretch of shoreline between Playa del Carmen and Tulum known for its fringing reef systems. The area is part of the Mesoamerican Reef, the second largest barrier reef in the world, which runs along much of this coastline. Despite being classified as a wall, the site here tops out at a shallow maximum depth of around 12.2 metres, making it a beginner dive. Dive operations based in nearby towns typically run boats out to sites along this reef edge.
