About this site
This site off Oahu combines two wrecks lying close together outside Keehi Lagoon, near the entrance channel to Honolulu Harbor. The YO-257 is a former Japanese-built fuel barge, and the San Pedro a steel-hulled fishing vessel, both intentionally sunk to form artificial reefs. They rest on a sandy bottom, with a maximum depth of around 24.7 metres, and are close enough together that a single dive often covers both. Visibility here is typically great, though currents can run strong, and the wreck itself has been noted by some divers as deteriorating, with a collapsed bridge section. Eagle rays are a regular sighting, and divers have also reported frogfish, moray eels, nudibranchs, octopuses, pufferfish, reef sharks, and sea turtles around the structure. Despite the current, it is generally rated a beginner dive and remains a common choice for newer divers and for wreck-diving certification dives out of Honolulu.
