About this site
Sandy Cay is a reef site off Central Abaco, in the northern Bahamas, reached by boat from settlements along Abaco's coast. It sits within the shallow bank waters typical of this part of the archipelago and is rated a beginner dive. The reef structure includes elkhorn and mustard hill coral, and divers have reported stoplight and redband parrotfish, Atlantic blue tang, Brazilian ocean surgeonfish, and yellowtail damselfish moving over it. Bottlenose dolphins have also been spotted in the area on occasion.
