About this site
Sandy Hook is a barrier peninsula on the northern coast of New Jersey, extending north into Lower New York Bay at the entrance to New York Harbor. It is part of the Gateway National Recreation Area and sits across the water from Rockaway, New York, with diving activity in the area tied to the many wrecks scattered through the harbor approaches and along the Jersey shore. Diving here on the reef is rated a beginner level site.
