Sapona Wreck

The Sapona is a concrete-hulled ship built during World War One, when steel was scarce, and later used as a floating warehouse and speakeasy before running aground on a shallow reef near South Bimini during a 1926 hurricane. The hull sits broken apart in very shallow water over a reef bottom, much of it above the surface, making it accessible to snorkelers as well as divers, with a maximum depth of around 5 metres. It's rated a beginner dive given its shallow, calm setting, and divers exploring the wreckage have reported barracuda, clownfish, fusiliers, lionfish, scorpionfish, triggerfish, tuna, and wrasse sheltering in and around the concrete remains.
