About this site
Shaab Abu Nugar is a reef system in the Red Sea off Qesm Hurghada, in Egypt's Red Sea Governorate, typically reached by boat from the Hurghada area. It lies among the scattered offshore reefs that dot this stretch of coast between Hurghada and the Giftun islands. The reef tops out at a maximum depth of around 14 metres and is rated a beginner dive over reef bottom, with grouper a regular sighting. Divers have also reported barracuda, dolphin, eagle rays, moray eels, nudibranchs, parrotfish, snapper, unicornfish, and wrasse around the reef.
