About this site
Shangri-La lies along the reef line off Playa del Carmen, on the Caribbean coast of the Yucatan Peninsula in Quintana Roo. Boats to sites in this stretch typically launch from the Playa del Carmen marina, running along a coastline lined with fringing reef parallel to shore. The site sits over a reef bottom to a maximum depth of about 12 metres and is rated a beginner dive. Divers have also reported nudibranchs, sea turtles, and seahorses here.
