About this site

Shark Plateau lies off Weh Island, a small island north of Banda Aceh at the northern tip of Sumatra, Indonesia, in the waters of the Sabang area on the Andaman Sea where dive boats reach the surrounding reefs and drop-offs. The site reaches a maximum depth of around 24 metres and is rated an advanced dive due to strong current. Divers have reported barracuda, eagle rays, fusiliers, grouper, reef sharks, trevally, and tuna moving over the plateau, drawn in part by the current that sweeps the site.
