About this site
Super Drop Off is a well known wall dive off Ie Island (Ie-jima), near Okinawa, Japan. It is named for a coral-covered shelf that drops sharply into deep blue water, with the wall reachable at depths of around 5 metres and continuing down well past recreational limits. Divers commonly encounter soft corals, reef fish, and occasional pelagic visitors along the drop, and visibility is often good given the site's exposure to open water off the island. The shallow shelf suits less experienced divers, while descending along the wall itself is treated as a more advanced dive due to the depth involved.
