About this site
The Sonesta Airplanes Wreck sits off Aruba's western shore near Palm Beach and Oranjestad, in the sheltered leeward waters where several small aircraft were sunk as artificial reefs. The site reaches a maximum depth of around 26 metres over a wreck bottom, and it is rated a beginner dive. Its location on the calm leeward side, away from the trade wind swells that hit the island's eastern coast, makes it an accessible spot to explore the sunken planes.
