About this site
South Point is one of the dive sites off Sipadan Island, on the drop-off that rings the island in the Celebes Sea, near the Malaysian state of Sabah. Like the other Sipadan points, it is known for a sheer wall dropping into deep water, with green and hawksbill turtles commonly seen resting on ledges, along with reef sharks and schooling jacks or barracuda passing along the wall. The site reaches a maximum depth of around 40 metres and is rated an intermediate dive. Current along this stretch of drop-off can run strong, so some wall or drift experience is useful here.
