About this site
The SS Clan Stuart lies in False Bay off Simon's Town, South Africa, close to the naval harbour on the Cape Peninsula's eastern side. The ship ran aground in the bay in the early twentieth century, and part of its structure still breaks the surface near the shoreline, making it a recognisable landmark from the coast road above. The wreck sits in a maximum depth of around 9 metres, and despite the shallow water it is rated an advanced dive, likely a reflection of the surge and swell that can build in this exposed part of the bay.
