The SS Rangoon lies off the southern coast of Sri Lanka near Galle, a stretch of coastline known for small fishing harbors and boat access points serving nearby dive operations. The wreck rests at a maximum depth of around 31.3 metres and is rated a beginner dive over a wreck bottom. Divers exploring it have reported nudibranchs, octopus, sea turtles, snapper, trevally, and wrasse around the structure.
