About this site
St Johns Reef lies in the far south of Egypt's Red Sea, near the maritime border with Sudan, and is made up of a scattered system of reefs typically reached by liveaboard rather than day boat. The area is remote enough that itineraries usually combine it with other southern sites such as Fury Shoal on the way down. This particular site reaches a maximum depth of around 20 metres and is rated a beginner dive, with a cave feature among its draws. Divers have also reported lionfish here.
