About this site
Staghorn Reef sits off Racha Yai Island, a short boat trip south of Phuket in the Andaman Sea. Racha Yai is a popular day and training dive destination known for its coral bays, and this site is one of several named spots ringing the island. The reef bottom here reaches a maximum depth of around 18 metres, with good visibility, and is rated an intermediate dive. Divers have reported manta rays and octopus on the reef, along with strong currents that can carry divers into open water, so care with positioning relative to the boat is worth taking.
