Stairs to Medang

Stairs to Medang is a reef dive site in the Sekotong area of West Lombok, Indonesia, characterised by coral terraces that step down like underwater stairs from a shallow plateau into progressively deeper water. The terrain descends from around 14 m at the top of the plateau to between 25 and 35 m at depth, offering a varied underwater landscape that blends macro subjects with wide-angle opportunities.

The reef holds lionfish, scorpionfish, and vibrant reef fish across the terraces, while schools of barracuda and giant trevally patrol the open water. On top of the plateau it is not uncommon to encounter lobsters and turtles, and the deeper sections have produced sightings of mantas and multiple species of sharks.

Water temperature runs between 27 and 29 °C. The site is listed at intermediate difficulty, and its depth range makes it suitable for divers comfortable working down to 30 m.
