About this site
Strytan is a submerged geothermal chimney formation in Eyjafjordur, near Akureyri in north Iceland, formed by mineral-rich hot spring water meeting the cold fjord. The site reaches a maximum depth of around 25 metres and is considered an intermediate dive. The cold, clear fjord water and the unusual chimney structures make it a distinctive spot along this part of Iceland's coast.
