Sudbury Reef sits off the coast of Queensland within the Great Barrier Reef system, roughly between Cairns and the reefs off Mission Beach. It lies in the section of the reef reached by boat from the north Queensland coast, in an area where numerous smaller reef patches sit between the mainland and the outer barrier.
