About this site
Sunken Island sits off the northern peninsula of Sulawesi, in the North Sulawesi waters near the Bangka and Lembeh areas along the Celebes Sea, a stretch of coast built on volcanic geology and known for its mix of reef and channel topography. The site is a wall reaching a maximum depth of around 40 metres and is rated an intermediate dive. Divers have reported frogfish, ghost pipefish, mimic octopus, nudibranchs, and octopus along the wall, making it a spot worth slowing down on for muck-style critter spotting alongside the drop-off itself.
