About this site
Tanjung Api is a wall dive at a point on Tenggol Island, off the coast of Terengganu in Peninsular Malaysia within the South China Sea. The island sits within a marine park area and is reached by boat from mainland jetties along the Terengganu coast, with dive operations there typically running during the calmer months between the monsoon seasons. The wall runs to a maximum depth of around 30 metres, with great visibility and currents strong enough that it is rated an advanced dive, and the strong current itself is the main hazard, with some divers also flagging surge and the deeper sections. Eagle rays are a regular sighting along the wall, and divers have also reported angelfish, barracuda, batfish, bumphead parrotfish, leopard and zebra sharks, manta rays, nudibranchs, parrotfish, pufferfish, and trevally here.
