About this site
Rangiroa is one of the largest atolls in the Tuamotus, and its passes cut through the surrounding reef to connect the lagoon with the open Pacific. The Canyons refers to a formation along this stretch of reef near the atoll's passes, where the terrain drops through channels and swim-throughs in the reef structure. Sites in this part of Rangiroa are generally reached by boat from the villages near Tiputa or Avatoru pass.
