About this site
The Elephant Cave lies along the coast of the Chania region on the northwest side of Crete, an area known for its rugged limestone shoreline and small coves. Dive sites in this part of Crete are typically reached by boat from towns along the Chania coastline. The cave reaches a maximum depth of around 12 metres over a cave bottom, with visibility described as great, and is rated an advanced dive. Divers have reported cave diving conditions and it is sometimes done as a night dive, and octopus and wrasse have been spotted inside.
