About this site
The Great Northern wreck lies off Bawe Island, a short boat ride from Stone Town on the west coast of Unguja, the main island of the Zanzibar archipelago in Tanzania. It sits within the reef and channel system between Zanzibar and the mainland, reached by dive operators working out of Stone Town harbor. The site is a shallow, beginner-friendly dive with a maximum depth of around 12 metres. Divers exploring the wreck have reported leaf scorpionfish, lionfish, octopus, and squid among its structure.
