About this site
The Great Wall lies off Makronisos, a narrow, mostly uninhabited island off the coast of Lavreotiki in southeastern Attica, separated from the mainland near Cape Sounion by a shallow strait. As its name suggests, the site is a wall dive, reaching a maximum depth of around 30 metres and rated advanced. Grouper are a regular sight along the wall, and divers have also reported dentex, octopus, and tuna in the area. Dive boats out of towns on the Attica mainland typically reach the site by crossing the strait to the island's rocky shoreline.
