The Monument lies off the coast near Cronulla, in the southern suburbs of Sydney, New South Wales, along a stretch of open coastline exposed to the Tasman Sea. Sites in this area are typically reached by boat from the Port Hacking or Cronulla area and involve sandstone reef structure typical of the Sydney coastline.
