The Steps

The Steps is a shore dive site in the Sydney area of New South Wales, with these coordinates placing it near the southern beaches around the Cronulla and Kurnell stretch of coastline. Sites along this part of the coast are typically accessed by entering directly from rock platforms or steps cut into the shoreline, giving the site its name, and the coastline here faces the Tasman Sea and is exposed to ocean swell. The dive reaches a maximum depth of around 18 metres and is generally rated intermediate, with current and tide movement to watch for. Divers have reported cuttlefish, eagle rays, manta rays, nudibranchs, seahorses, and stingrays around the reef here.
