Tiburones lies off the Guanacaste coast of northwestern Costa Rica, in the Pacific waters near the Papagayo peninsula, an area known for volcanic rock formations reached by boat from the region's coastal towns. The site reaches a maximum depth of around 30.5 metres and is rated an intermediate dive. Divers have reported reef sharks and stingrays here, in keeping with the site's name.
