About this site
Tidore lies just off Halmahera Island in the Maluku province of eastern Indonesia, part of the North Maluku archipelago known historically for its clove and nutmeg trade. The waters around Tidore sit within the Coral Triangle, between Halmahera and the small volcanic island of Tidore itself, reached by local boat from the coastal towns nearby.
