About this site
Tiger Beach lies off the northwest side of Grand Bahama Island in the Bahamas, in open sandy shallows rather than on an actual beach. It is one of the most reliable places in the world to dive with tiger sharks, and divers have also reported bull sharks, hammerheads, nurse sharks, eagle rays, barracuda, and octopus around the site. The maximum depth is about 29.9 metres, and it is rated an advanced dive, with dives typically run over open sand rather than reef or wreck structure. Apex predator activity and boat traffic have both been noted as hazards here, and operators typically use bait or chum to draw the sharks in, with divers working from the sand in a group rather than swimming freely through the water column.
