About this site
Tiger Beach lies off the northwest end of Grand Bahama Island, in shallow open water on the Little Bahama Bank. It is one of the best known shark diving sites in the world, named for the tiger sharks that gather over the sandy flats, along with lemon sharks and reef sharks often seen circling near the bottom. Depths are typically shallow, generally in the range of 6 to 12 metres, with sandy bottom and good visibility that make it popular for non-cage shark diving. The site is usually reached by liveaboard or day boat out of Grand Bahama or Florida, and while the shallow depth is easy, diving in close proximity to large sharks means operators typically require some prior experience or a briefed, guided approach.
