Tokai/Cormoran

This site lies off Apra Harbor on the west coast of Guam, in the Mariana Islands, and is known for pairing two wrecks that rest close together, the Japanese freighter Tokai Maru and the German raider SMS Cormoran. The Cormoran was scuttled by her own crew in 1917 at the outbreak of American entry into World War I, while the Tokai Maru was sunk during American air raids in 1943. The two wrecks lie near enough to each other that divers can touch both on a single dive, with the Cormoran resting on her port side and the Tokai Maru broken and draped partly across her. Depths run from around 15 metres near the shallowest structure down past 30 metres, and the site is generally considered suitable for divers with wreck experience given the depth range and the tangle of structure involved.
