About this site
Ukwehli Reef sits off the coast of Zanzibar in Tanzania, part of the reef systems scattered along this stretch of the Indian Ocean and typically reached by boat from towns along Zanzibar's coastline. It reaches a maximum depth of around 40 metres and is rated an advanced dive. Divers have reported a wide range of life here, including grouper, Napoleon wrasse, snapper, and nudibranchs, along with goatfish, sergeant majors and dascyllus moving over the reef, collector and rock-boring urchins, spotted linckia sea stars, and snake sea cucumbers on the bottom.
