Ulong Channel

Ulong Channel is a well-known drift dive in the Rock Islands area of Koror State, Palau, where a channel cuts through the reef and funnels tidal current across a series of coral bommies. Verified data puts the maximum depth at around 18 metres over a reef bottom, and it is rated a beginner dive overall, though divers have reported strong current here that can sweep divers along the channel walls. Eagle rays, grouper, Napoleon wrasse, reef sharks, sea turtles, snapper, stingrays, trevally, triggerfish, and wrasse have all been reported on the site, with coral growth building up where the current concentrates food. Divers have also noted aggressive nesting triggerfish here, worth watching for during their breeding season. It is often paired with nearby Ulong Rock or German Channel on Rock Islands dive itineraries out of Koror.
