About this site
Umagai (ウーマガイ) is a boat-dive wall off Kume Island, Okinawa, about 10 minutes from harbour, with a maximum depth of 30 m and an average around 13 m. The drop-off falls sharply from 10 m to 40 m, with holes and overhangs in the sheer face, and anthias and pyramid butterflyfish school along the shelf edge. Squarespot anthias and hawkfish anthias live on the wall, with Helfrich's dartfish, Randall's shrimp goby and yellow shrimp goby in the deeper water. Beginners can stay on the shelf and its edge while more experienced divers work the mid-water and the deeper wall; suitable from beginner level.
