Umm Halhala

Umm Halhala lies along the Red Sea coast within Marsa Alam, in Egypt's Red Sea Governorate, sitting as an exposed offshore reef typically reached by boat from harbors around Marsa Alam town. It is a beginner dive to a maximum depth of around 20 metres, with a reef bottom and generally light current. Divers commonly encounter lionfish, Napoleon wrasse, nudibranchs, scorpionfish, triggerfish, and wrasse, and a dolphin sighting has also been reported here. Entry is by back roll, and exit is over the side rather than by ladder, so boarding takes a bit more care. Lionfish and stonefish are present, so divers should watch where they place their hands, and some visits have noted stronger current than the norm for the site despite its beginner rating.
