Veymandhoo Kandu

Veymandhoo Kandu is a channel dive on the outer edge of Thaa Atoll, on the eastern side of the Maldives archipelago south of Male. Kandus in the Maldives connect the atoll's inner lagoon to the open ocean, and are generally dived on the incoming tide when current draws pelagic species toward the channel mouth. Divers have reported eagle rays and manta rays passing through here. Thaa Atoll sees far fewer liveaboards and day boats than the more visited northern and central atolls, so sites here are typically reached by boats based locally or on longer liveaboard routes through the southern Maldives.
