About this site
The W.E. Hutton is a wreck off the coast of North Carolina, in the waters commonly referred to as the Graveyard of the Atlantic. She was a tanker torpedoed by a German U-boat during World War II, in 1942, while running along the American east coast shipping lanes. The wreck lies broken on the sandy bottom off the Carolina coast, a common target for offshore boat charters out of ports like Morehead City or Beaufort. Wrecks in this area are generally reached by longer boat runs and are subject to the currents typical of the Gulf Stream's influence on this stretch of coast.
