About this site
Washburne is a dive site off Ilhabela, an island municipality on the north coast of Sao Paulo state separated from the mainland by the Sao Sebastiao Channel. The island's Atlantic Forest covered peaks and surrounding granite islets give the area its character, and boats out of the town drop onto rocky reef formations shaped by the channel's currents. Divers here have reported Atlantic sergeant major, blackear wrasse, Brazilian damselfish, porkfish, ringneck blenny, seaweed blenny, and squirrelfish among the reef life.
