About this site
Tawhiti Rahi is the larger of the two main islands in the Poor Knights Islands group, off the coast of Northland, New Zealand, an area protected as a marine reserve. Wild Beast Point sits along its coastline, where the volcanic rock formations typical of the Poor Knights drop into the Pacific waters of the reserve. Divers here have reported clown doris, Cook's scorpionfish, eastern king wrasse, eastern pigfish, New Zealand black angelfish, New Zealand demoiselle, and yellowtail kingfish moving through the site.
