Xera Mourtia lies off Alonnisos, one of the Sporades islands in the Aegean Sea off the coast of Thessaly. Alonnisos sits within the Alonnisos Marine Park, an area of protected waters known for its rocky coastline and small islets. The reef here is shallow, reaching a maximum depth of around 6 metres, making it a gentle dive along the rocky terrain typical of the marine park.
