About this site

Yap Caverns lies along the barrier reef off Yap, an island in the Federated States of Micronesia known more broadly for manta ray encounters at nearby channels such as Mi'il and Goofnuw. The site is a wall dive reaching a maximum depth of around 36.6 metres, rated intermediate, and is typically reached by short boat trips from Colonia and the local dive operators based there. Divers here have reported bumphead parrotfish, clownfish, leaf scorpionfish, octopus, ornate ghost pipefish, and wrasse along the reef, with occasional sightings of oceanic whitetip sharks, whales, and whale sharks passing by.
