Zvirja lies along the coast of Hvar Island, within Split-Dalmatia County in the Adriatic Sea off Croatia. The site is a reef reaching a maximum depth of around 30 metres. Divers have reported cavities in the rock here, along with pockets of cold fresh water mixing into the seawater. The island's shoreline in this area is typical of the Dalmatian coast, rocky terrain accessed from nearby coastal settlements.
