About this site
Eel Garden is a dive site at the southern end of the island, where a rocky reef drops onto a sand flat at 25 metres, with a maximum depth of 60 m. The terrain transitions from reef to open sand, and the site runs year-round with water temperatures of 27–29°C (rising to around 29°C from March to October).
The sand flat is defined by massive colonies of garden eels swaying in the mild current, and the broader site also hosts anemones, shrimp, eels, barracudas, jack fish, and hammerhead sharks. Visibility is good across the site.
Entry is via steps directly into the water. Current is generally light, though it can be strong and variable, and the site is recommended for experienced divers with 50 or more dives logged.
