Flower Gardens is a reef off Palm Beach on the Breakers reef line, in two parts. The inside reef is a scatter of patch reefs and low ledges where juvenile fish gather. The outside reef is a honeycombed ledge with larger fish, and one stretch of it, the Fish Bowl, holds so many fish the reef can be hard to see. Expect schooling jacks, spadefish, grunts and snapper over the ledges, spiny lobster in the holes, and shrimp, crabs and nudibranchs for those who look closely. Flying gurnards and batfish turn up on the sand. In turtle nesting season, hawksbill, loggerhead and green turtles are seen on most dives. It is a boat-only site. Divers enter with a giant stride and drift the reef with the current, and the boat collects them where they surface. It is a rewarding site for photographers.
