MUSAN — the Museum of Underwater Sculpture Ayia Napa — is an underwater sculpture museum located off Ayia Napa, Cyprus, and is recognised as the Mediterranean's first underwater museum. The site was created by underwater sculptor Jason deCaires Taylor and features 93 sculptures resting on a sandy seabed at a maximum depth of 9 metres (approximately 10.8 m verified maximum), making it one of the most distinctive dive sites in Cyprus.
The terrain is a flat sandy bottom at around 9 metres with the sculptures distributed across it, offering low relief and straightforward navigation. Current is light and the water temperature ranges from 16–29 °C depending on the season, with visibility running great in these protected, calm conditions. The site is accessible from April through to November or December.
Marine life at MUSAN includes groupers, sea turtles, spotted pufferfish, sea bream, rainbow wrasse, parrotfish, moray eels, octopus, and starfish, all of which are drawn to the artificial reef structure created by the sculptures over time.
The site is well suited to beginners and requires no prior certification or experience; the shallow, sheltered conditions and light current make it an ideal first dive environment. A minimum age of 10 years applies for supervised introductory dives, and certified divers can explore independently within the site's modest depth range.
