Sandy Bay is a shallow, sandy-bottomed dive site near Ayia Napa, Cyprus, used primarily for introductory scuba diving. The site sits in protected, calm waters and is considered one of the most accessible beginner sites in the area.
The bottom is flat sand at shallow depth, offering a low-relief, uncomplicated underwater terrain with no significant slope or drop. The straightforward layout makes it easy to stay oriented and comfortable throughout the dive.
Conditions at Sandy Bay are consistently mild: visibility is excellent, there is no current to contend with, and the sheltered position keeps the water calm even when conditions elsewhere are less cooperative. This makes it reliable for first-time divers on any given day. Puffer fish, dentex, and jacks are among the marine life encountered here.
Entry is straightforward and suited to complete beginners and nervous first-timers. No prior certification or dive experience is required to dive the site, and its combination of easy entry, shallow sandy bottom, and calm protected conditions makes it one of the most minimal-challenge options available in the Ayia Napa area.
