Fish Factory

Fish Factory is a reef dive site on Rainbow Reef, accessed from Viani Bay in the Vanua Levu area of Fiji, close to Taveuni Island. The site is reached by boat, with divers mooring to an underwater mooring — locating it requires a swimmer to dive in and run a line through it before the rest of the group descends.

The reef sits at a maximum depth of 9.1 metres (about 30 feet), and the site is known for dense concentrations of fish and soft corals across that relatively shallow terrain.

Fish Factory sits in the Somosomo Strait, where currents are strong and can change direction mid-dive. Visibility can be reduced, particularly following storm or cyclone activity. Because of the powerful and unpredictable current, this is designated as advanced-diver territory; timing dives around tidal changes is essential.
